Free radio in your Tesla — no app, no account, no ads
Tesla has no app store for third-party media apps, so you can't install a radio app on the car screen. But the car does have a web browser — and that browser plays web audio. JSM Radio is a free website that plays internet radio, so it works on the Tesla screen today, through the browser.
▶ Open JSM Radio in your Tesla browserBookmark it in the car browser so it's one tap next time.
How to listen while driving
Park, open the Browser
On the Tesla touchscreen, open the Browser app and go to jsm-radio.com.
Pick a station or preset
Choose a station by genre, search, or “Near me” — or tap one of your saved presets. Press play.
Minimise the browser and drive
According to Tesla's Model Y owner's manual, when you play audio through the web browser and then minimise the browser, the car continues the browser audio in the background. Pause and play from the car's media miniplayer.
Change station? Park first
Browsing the web while driving isn't the idea — pick your station before you set off, or pull over to change it. Your presets make that one tap.
What you get
- 30,000+ free internet radio stations from Radio Browser — pop, rock, jazz, classical, news, talk, Turkish, Arabic, French and more.
- On-demand tracks from Audius — independent artists, full tracks, no account.
- 6 car presets — tap to play a saved station, hold 2 seconds to save what's playing.
- Stations near you — local stations wherever you are, not fixed to one city.
- One search, both worlds — search once and get live stations and tracks together.
- No ads, no account, no dead links — only working, secure (HTTPS) streams are listed.
No data in the car browser? Use Bluetooth
Phone → Tesla over Bluetooth
Play JSM Radio on your phone, set the Tesla media source to Bluetooth, and the car speakers play it. The phone keeps playing through lock screen and app switching, and the steering-wheel controls work as media controls. This is the reliable route if the car browser has no connection while driving.
Questions Tesla owners ask
Is there a JSM Radio app for Tesla?
No — Tesla doesn't offer a third-party app store or SDK for the car screen, so no independent radio app can be installed there. The browser route above is the supported way.
Does it work with CarPlay or Android Auto?
Tesla doesn't support CarPlay or Android Auto natively. The browser and Bluetooth routes above are the ones that work today.
Is JSM Radio affiliated with Tesla?
No. JSM Radio is an independent free website. Tesla is a trademark of Tesla, Inc., which does not endorse this site.
